The mental game / threats from two sides
Introduction Almost all freestyle sports involve an element of high risk and it seems that that is not accidental but the danger is the...
Roughly speaking, it's about parkour and all kinds of topics related to parkour. A certain amount of introspection has always been a natural part of my parkour training, and this PkTheory blog is an attempt to put my thoughts on the subject into words. I don't see the articles as finished and final, but rather as an approximation, and that's how they should be read.
Sometimes you hear people say, “Theorizing is useless, you just have to train!”
As down-to-earth and pragmatic as this opinion may sound, it is itself already a theory. Namely, that one could simply act without theory, i.e., from a kind of mental vacuum. Nothing could be further from practical reality, if you ask me! I remember several concise “theoretical” insights that fundamentally changed my “practical” training and thus had a probably incalculable influence on my parkour development and my life. So I am convinced that – unless you want to fly on autopilot – there is nothing more practical than grappling with the invisible theoretical foundation that you carry with you and that colors your own actions, whether you know it or not.
Most of the articles were written in English (because they were originally intended for Instagram) and some in German. For reasons of efficiency, I simply had them translated automatically. That's why the wording sometimes sounds a little strange, but I think everything should be understandable.
